Distribution of the Asian hornet in 2025

 

The Asian hornet Vespa velutina is an exotic species that appeared in France in 2004. It quickly took hold and spread at lightning speed.

 

Initially omnipresent, the hornet seems to have gradually integrated itself into the local fauna, and its nests are now regularly predated by woodpeckers, corvids and even tits.
