Post-breeding dispersal of the European roller in 2024
The European Roller Coracias garrulus is a magnificent migratory bird that settles in France along the Mediterranean coast.
They return from the second decade of April. The birds stick to the plane tree rows, which are rich in cavities likely to shelter the nest.
After emancipation, the young birds disperse and can be seen outside the Mediterranean area. In 2022, this behaviour was quite exceptional! In 2024, dispersal already appears to be significant. Are we going to break records?
