Autumn migration of the Dotterel in 2024
The Dotterel Charadrius morinellus is a migrant shorebird which, at the end of summer, leaves northen mountains and tundras to winter in the extensive steppes of Spain and North Africa. During their journey, some birds stop in France. They usually occur on bare, dry and stony plots, dunes, vast overgrazed meadows or plateaux.
To find Dotterels, you have to scan plains bare lands with binoculars or a telescope. The plumage of the bird, although contrasted, merges wonderfully with the surrounding environment.
If you look for Dotterels in your region, please record complete lists on your sighting spots.
