Migratory passage and return of the Sedge Warbler in 2024
The Sedge Warbler Acrocephalus schoenobaenus is a migratory songbird that winters in West Africa and returns to Europe in late March and early April.
During migratory stopovers, many individuals practise their singing skills in order to have the best chance of attracting one or more partners once they arrive at their nesting sites.
It is important not to assign atlas codes to these birds in transit and to wait until the migratory flow is over before assigning a nesting box code to birds actually nesting in France.
